When the clans were new, they stood as enemies, and cats were strictly forbidden from having allies in the other clan.
Despite this, a warrior from Fireclan and a warrior from Iceclan fell in love. They kept their love secret for moons, but eventually the truth slipped out, and the Fireclan warrior was killed. Each clan blames the other for his death, and the truth has long been lost to time.
According to the legend, the Iceclan cat went out to a cliff overlooking the sea, and cried her despair to the stars. The Fireclan cat, looking down from above, was unable to bear seeing his love in such pain, and leapt from the sky to return to her. In the shape of a star, he plummeted to the ground.
Nobody knows what became of the two lovers, but the place where they were reunited has served to connect Starclan to the world of the living ever since.
The Fallen Star is a giant stone in the middle of a crater that has filled with water. Cats who wish to commune with Starclan touch their noses to the pool and rest.
All cats are expected to visit The Fallen Star at least once as apprentices, though there’s no promise that Starclan will speak to them. It’s said that The Fallen Star holds additional secrets, known only to seers and leaders.
The Fallen Star is located on a rocky outcropping over the sea, and is considered to be outside the territory of either clan. Far below, the outcropping shelters a small cove that is capable of sheltering any cat who can reach it.
