The ranks below apply to both Fireclan and Iceclan.
Leader, Deputy, Healer, and Seer are considered high ranks. A newly created character may not hold a high rank; they can only be received through roleplay. However, NPCs that hold high ranks can be claimed by any player, just the same as any other NPC.
The head of the clan. The leader has final say in all decisions that affect the whole clan, and is responsible for holding most ceremonies.
The deputy is second in command, and is tasked with organizing patrols and handling many day-to-day affairs. In the event that the leader dies or retires, the deputy takes their place.
Healers are cats skilled in knowledge of herbs, who are tasked with treating the clans illnesses and injuries.
Seers are diplomats and spiritual leaders. They are meant to stand apart from the divisions between clans, and work with one another freely. They are also skilled in handicraft, and oversee the construction and maintenance of dens.
These are the ranks available to newly created characters, and typically make up the majority of clan cats.
Elders are cats who have retired from their previous rank due to age or injury. They typically help to look after kits, and command respect from their clanmates.
The most common rank, and the backbone of the clan. Warriors are responsible for hunting and protecting the clan.
Cats that are in training. They are expected to complete certain tasks before their training is considered complete. Among these, they are expected to spend a day each studying both under the Seers and Healers, learning the basics about those roles. If they show aptitude for them, they may switch to training for those roles specifically.
The youngest members of the clan. The warrior code dictates that no cat may begin training before six moons.
A note: Queen is an informal term for a cat that is nursing kits, and not a rank unto itself. A queen is still considered to hold their regular rank, though of course they are given a break from their typical duties. It is common for both parents to live in the nursery until the kits become apprentices.
Unlike in the books, there is no rank that is forbidden from taking a mate or having kits.
